Santa Ana, California

It’s here that dogs are not loving live since there are very few dog parks. Per capita, you will find among the least dog parks in the country, and it’s because they are virtually nonexistent. Dogs like to be outdoors, so you better hope that your home comes with a large yard. But since many areas in this particular part of the state are not known for their large yards, this is a deal breaker for many people when it comes to getting a dog.

San Antonio, Texas

While it might seem that this is a great place for dogs, it’s not always the case. More than almost any other city in the country, dog attacks here are on the rise. What this means is that many owners are not doing their job to correctly train their dogs. What it also means is that people here are terrified of dogs. That means that they could falsely accuse dogs of misbehaving or even treat certain breeds as bad dogs even though they are not.

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

What makes this city rough (or should we say, ruff) on dogs is that there are not enough vets in the city. They are in high demand, and it’s not always easy to find one. What this might mean for you is a serious annoyance when you do get to the vet’s office. What this might mean for your dog is fewer trips to the vet because you are tired of spending hours in the waiting room. All in all, it’s not good for the health of your dog not to go to the vet on a regular basis.

Sacramento, California

While many of the people here do have dogs, and the cost of raising one around here is not too bad, some people say it is one of the worst cities for dogs. See, there is a theory that it’s not bad dogs that attack people, it’s bad owners that don’t teach their dogs the proper behavior methods. Sacramento rates among the most dangerous cities in the country for dog attacks, which means people here are more afraid of dogs than they are in love with them.

Jersey City, New Jersey

If you want to raise a dog in Jersey City, you better hope that you have deep pockets. The cost of veterinary care here is among the highest in the country. This means that for basic vet care, you will pay significantly more than people across the world. And since you cannot predict what might happen once you get to the vet – or what might happen to your dog on a daily basis – the cost could become significantly higher at any moment. It’s enough to prevent people from wanting dogs.

Anaheim, California

Another Orange County city makes the list as the worst places in the country for dogs. This city makes the list because there are not enough dog parks. This means it’s more difficult to find one close to your home so that you can take your dog on a nice walk to the park. The other issue is that many of the people who live here do not have large enough yards for the exercise needs of many breeds, which makes the lack of dog parks even worse.

While the good news is that dogs will find that there are a number of dog parks and places that they can go to play and have fun, they will also find that many breeds are discriminated against here. There were more dog bites here than almost any other city in the country a few years back, and that made many of the residents a bit skeptical about certain dog breeds. There is a good chance that the people who live here might not all be the best dogs owners as they are not teaching their animals appropriate behavior techniques.

Additionally, there are more dog attacks here than many other cities, which means some breeds are ostracized and treated unfairly as a result.

Corpus Christi, Texas

It’s here that you will find larger yards, which is a good thing since you will not find many dog parks. Dogs find it difficult to want to enjoy their lives when they have nowhere to go on their walks in which they can run around and enjoy themselves while being free and getting a bit of exercise. While this might be fine for some breeds, it is just not the case for other breeds that are just not as capable of being confined as others.
