Strong and athletic, this is a large breed that is quick and agile and very athletic. They are a very spirited dogs and can be a handful for some owners, especially novice dog owners. Although highly spirited, they are good with kids, and are particularly protective of them, which is one reason many families love this breed. They do require a substantial amount of exercise, and they do not do well to be left alone too long, or ignored by their owner. If they are, they have a tendency to get destructive out of loneliness and boredom. Boxers are commonly seen and owned by families and people who love an active, athletic dog.
