Marla the Pit Bull Passes Away But Not Without a Huge Impact on Her Family

Every once in a while you come across a story that you simply have to share.  This is such a story.

Once upon a time, almost a year ago, a family lost their housing and had to give up their beloved pit bull for a few months. They put up a post in hopes of finding someone who could take care of their furry friend while they were staying in their car and hotels. Unfortunately, no one came forward to help.

However, there was a family that had a rescue pit bull in the past, and they decided to take a chance and see if they could help. The only challenge was one of their sons had a fear of dogs. Despite this, they went to meet the family and their pit bull, Marla.

To their surprise, their son was willing to give it a go, and they took Marla home. At first, she was hesitant to leave the house, but after a while, she realized that this was her new home. Marla got comfortable quickly, and soon, the family fell in love with her. She took over the couch, was constantly by everyone’s side, and loved to be loved.

To everyone’s surprise, it took a pit bull to help the family’s son overcome his fear of dogs. Marla brought so much joy and love to their lives, and they even got her a modeling gig. They enjoyed taking her to the beach and spending time with her as a family member.

One day, the family woke up and knew something was wrong with Marla. They struggled to find a vet that could see her, and when they finally did, they were told she needed to go to a hospital immediately.

Sadly, Marla never made it back home, and the family mourned the loss of their furry family member. They realized that Marla was not just a pet; she was a member of their family, and losing her was heartbreaking.

Here’s the actual story from Facebook

Almost a year ago someone put a post up about a family that lost their housing and had a pit bull that they hoped someone could look after for a few months as they were going from staying in their car and hotels.

Awhile past and they put up another post as no one had come forward.

Previously, my brother had a rescue pit bull that was amazing. I had 2 American Bull Dogs, one that I took when it’s owner was going away for awhile and then Cyrus “the one nut wonder” that I got as a puppy and ended up 135 pounds (and quite the story himself…also shout out to Dollar Bill for looking after him).

Anyhow, the family talked about it. We realized it would probably be a long shot for someone to take an older Pit Bull and we could easily handle it for a bit. Only other issue is one of my sons had a “love hate” relationship with dogs…he loves them in theory, but they always seemed to charge or snap at him, so he had a little bit of fear for dogs in general.
So a few people thought we were crazy when we said we were gonna go meet with the family and the dog and see how my son went with her.

Fortunately for all of us, he wanted to give it a go and we took Marla “home”.

At first when we would leave and we were taking her with us, she didn’t want to leave the house. We like to think it was because she liked the new place and didn’t want to go somewhere else.

When we’d get back she’d run straight into the house. After awhile she realized this was HER home and then when we left and didn’t take her she’d do the sad stare out the window with that, “Did you forget about me” look that she mastered.
Marla got comfortable real quick. She took over the couch, always came and put her butt on you and sat down, was constantly by everyone’s side. She loved to be loved.

Long story short, as a lot of you know when a pet comes into your life, the relationship quickly transforms to a friend then to a family member and irreplaceable companion.

Surprisingly to a lot of people (but not pit lovers), it took a pit bull to help my son overcome his concerns about Dogs.

So after awhile, it was decided it would be best if Marla stayed with us. Honestly, the thought of losing her would was something no one in the family could handle.

She was 10 or 11 when we got her. She’d had already had a couple surgeries. But she was doing great and brought us all so much joy and love.

We even got her her first “modeling” gig…For the SxTx Dixxon flannel collab (she photo).
Marla loved going to the beach and being with the family.

Then one day we woke up and knew something was wrong. We couldn’t find a vet that would see her and had to drive and wait 8 hours where we took her.

When they finally saw her they said she needed to go to a hospital immediately.

We took her there there not knowing that she would never be coming home ????

When I was in the 5th grade, one day at school one of the kids came late and was crying hysterically. The teacher was trying to console him and all we could originally make out was that someone had died.

We assumed it was a family member or someone very close to him.

It was his cat.

I’m not a cat person, but I thought, wow just a pet.

When Marla passed we all cried.

We didn’t lose a pet. We lost a member of the family.

RIP and thank you for the love.
