Stabbed Pit Bull Puppy Adopted by the Man Who Saved her Life

Smoke, a Pit Bull puppy from Portsmouth, Virginia, was subjected to a brutal act of violence at a tender age of under a year. The puppy’s former owner inflicted seven stab wounds on the animal in a fit of rage.

However, Smoke managed to escape the attacker and found refuge under a nearby landscaping truck, where she was eventually discovered by the driver, Brad Chambers.

Check out the rest of the story below:

“When I looked under the car, it looked like a sweet puppy,” Chambers told WTKR. But when Chambers picked up the puppy, he was shocked to find her profusely bleeding from the neck.

Fortunately, Chambers isn’t just a Good Samaritan and animal lover. He’s also a former cop with a trauma kit in his vehicle.

According to  Chambers, the driver who discovered Smoke, the puppy was in a critical state with visible puncture wounds and a significant loss of blood. Chambers immediately took action by administering first aid and rushing the injured animal to a nearby veterinary hospital. His prompt action played a crucial role in saving Smoke’s life.

Smoke underwent multiple surgeries at a veterinary hospital in North Carolina, with the cost of the surgeries being covered through fundraising efforts, including a personal contribution from Chambers. The puppy’s former owner has since been charged with animal cruelty in connection with the incident.

Smoke’s road to recovery has been a testament to the animal’s resilience, and the puppy is now poised to start a new chapter in its life. Brad Chambers and his fiancé have expressed their intention to provide Smoke with a permanent and loving home.

The couple also plans to train Smoke to become a therapy dog, leveraging the animal’s remarkable spirit to bring comfort to those in need.

In a recent Facebook post, Chambers expressed his delight at Smoke’s progress and the prospect of giving the brave puppy a carefree life.

He wrote, “We are overjoyed to share the news that Smoke is coming home! She is such a fighter, having to fight more than any dog should have to. But now Smoke can look forward to just being a carefree pup!”
