What Happened to 12 Malnourished Pit Bulls Chained Outside Abandoned Home in Ohio

The Humane Society of Greater Dayton successfully rescued a dozen pit bulls that were found to be neglected at an abandoned home.
Following a report received by the Ohio shelter last month, a team was dispatched to investigate the situation.
Upon arrival, the rescuers discovered twelve malnourished pit bulls tethered on heavy chains in an unacceptable and inadequate living conditions.

“Each one of them was tied up with heavy, industrial-strength chain that weighed them down. With temperatures nearing 90 degrees, the dogs were extremely dehydrated and malnourished.
No food or water was found anywhere and you could see the ribs on many of them,” stated rescuers.
The dogs were offered water before they were freed from the chains and brought back to the shelter to be examined.

During the rescue, one of the pit bulls was discovered to be pregnant and subsequently gave birth shortly after arriving at the shelter.
The mother and her puppies are currently being cared for by a loving foster family, where they are bonding and receiving the necessary care.
The other pit bulls rescued have been receiving proper nutrition and receiving love and attention from volunteers and staff at the shelter. After undergoing an appropriate period of recovery at the shelter, these pit bulls are now ready to be placed in permanent, loving homes.

The rescue of the neglected pit bulls by the Humane Society of Greater Dayton has been met with gratitude from the community.
Many have expressed their appreciation for the shelter’s efforts to save these sweet dogs, and have expressed their hope that the person responsible for their abandonment will be identified and held accountable for their actions.

Pit bulls, unfortunately, are often subject to negative stereotypes and are disproportionately represented in shelters. However, those who have had the opportunity to interact with them understand that they are loving and loyal companions.
The shelter encourages individuals considering pet adoption to consider opening their homes to a pit bull, as they possess ample love and affection to give.
