Massive Pit Bull with Huge Heart Remains in Shelter Because of His Size
When Ace was brought to Ventura County Animal Services, it was immediately apparent that he was a large dog, weighing in at 103 pounds at just 2 years of age.
His previous family had been caring for him temporarily on behalf of another family member, but were unable to find a permanent home for him and ultimately had to surrender him to the shelter.
The shelter staff is concerned that Ace’s size may make it difficult for him to find a new home, as it appears to have been a factor in the past.
According to The Dodo, despite his imposing appearance, Ace is a gentle and loving dog who enjoys the company of other dogs, particularly smaller ones. He is calm and affectionate, and simply seeks the opportunity to explore his surroundings and receive affection from those he trusts.
The staff at Ventura County Animal Services are concerned that Ace’s size may prevent potential adopters from giving him a chance to demonstrate his gentle nature.
However, they believe that he is a deserving and lovable animal who will win the hearts of the right individuals. As Jules Hooper of Ventura County Animal Services stated, “We think he’s a beautiful boy and will win over the hearts of the right people.”
Ace has recently arrived at the shelter and is still acclimating to his new environment. At present, he is more focused on interacting with other dogs than with humans.
However, his previous family reports that he enjoys attention and it is expected that he will become more comfortable with people as he becomes more settled. Despite the transition to the shelter, Ace has remained adaptable and the staff hope to find him a permanent home as soon as possible.
