Many boys have fond memories of the time they spent with a puppy, and report it as one of the happiest periods in their lives. Children often express a strong desire to have a puppy of their own, and when they do, they develop a powerful bond with the animal.
We can’t help but to recall the story of when a young boy in Mexico exemplified this bond when he dropped off his puppy at a rescue shelter called Xollin. The boy placed the puppy, a pit bull, in a cardboard box and included a note explaining why he was giving up the animal.

The rescue was deeply moved by the boy’s actions and decided to share the story on Facebook. Since then, the post has received widespread attention, with many people offering to help and praising the boy for making a difficult decision.
It appears that the actions of a 12-year-old boy named Andres, in leaving his puppy at the Xollin rescue shelter, were motivated by a desire to protect the animal.

Andres deeply cared for the puppy, but was concerned for its safety due to the mistreatment and abuse inflicted upon it by his father. Andres and his mother made the difficult decision to relinquish the puppy to ensure its well-being.
The note left by Andres, originally written in Spanish, was translated as follows:

“My name is Andrés and I am 12 years old. My mom and I decided to leave my dog in your hands, hiding it from my dad because he is thinking about selling him. But he mistreats and kicks him. One day he kicked him so hard that he hurt his tail. I hope you can help and take care of him. I left him a stuffed animal so he won’t forget me.”
The puppy, subsequently named René, was found to have a number of health issues upon examination, including a fracture in his tail and an infestation of parasites.
René received the necessary care and attention to address these issues. However, it is also crucial that he finds a permanent and loving home. (We may never know if he did)

The rescue shelter’s Facebook posts regarding René generated a significant number of inquiries from individuals interested in adopting him. We never found out if Rene got a permanent home. The last time we heard, the rescue organization was currently evaluating and selecting the most suitable family for him.
