They’re Not Classified as Spaniels
The dog might be an official spaniel, but it’s not classified that way by clubs and associations. In fact, the dog is considered a toy breed because it is small and delicate. The reason is that they are not officially sporting dogs. Spaniels are considered sporting dogs, but they are not recognized in this group because these are not actually sporting dogs. Very few of this breed have ever been used to hunt.
