It’s a Fairly “New” Official Breed

The Cavalier King Charles spaniel has been around for centuries, but it’s the kind of dog that really does not get any official recognition from the American Kennel Club. Well, it does, but it did not receive official recognition until the mid-1990s. It’s been around for centuries, but the AKC chose to wait a very long time before making it an officially recognized breed, for whatever reason they felt was just and appropriate.
