North Carolina Family Dog Gives Birth to a Green Puppy and Name it “Hulk”

When you think of the color green, there some typical things that come to mind. The first things that you think of might be grass, broccoli, or even eggs and ham. But there was a big green surprise that awaited dog owner Shena Stamey when her dog German shepherd Gypsy gave birth to a whole litter of pups. Thankfully the dogs came out healthy and happy, but there was a strange anomaly that awaited the owners. Believe it or not, one of the pups came out green! This was upsetting to the family at first, who feared that there might be something wrong with the pup. The dog otherwise appeared to be healthy, but they decided to take it to the vet. The vet then informed them that this is a condition that can befall young pups when they first come out of their mother’s womb.

The explanation for why the pup turned green is a little more scientific. The principle is straightforward but still unexpected given that it is a rare phenomenon. It turns out that the birth sack contains meconium, a green waste substance that supports the health of the newborn. Though the substance is common in mammals, it is uncommon that it comes in contact with the newborn. Though in rare cases it can stain and change the color of the coat, at least for a period of time. For other pups it might be less noticeable, but the natural color of the pup’s coat is a pristine white. This makes the green staining far more noticeable than it would be in other dogs. The young puppy drew plenty of eyeballs when he first came into the world, but he needed a name that was as unique as his look. Given his temperament, the choice was easy…

The dog was named Hulk after the green Marvel comic book character. Hulk was a ferocious little puppy with a great coat to match. It was a perfect fit given the temperament and look of the dog. Little Hulk quickly became quite the sensation when a local news station interviewed the owner. It is clear that the young pup is already getting quite the following. This is good since the family plans to put several of the puppies up for adoption. This should be easy given the adorable and agreeable manner of the pups, but time will tell. In the meantime, little Hulk will likely be causing mischief and living up to his name. This is a perfect opportunity to learn about dogs that look a little different. He has even picked up a new nickname as the green in his coat has started to fade into yellow, “Pikachu”.

Dogs with strangely colored coats have often been the stuff of lore, this raises the question of the role that a green dog could fill. The color seems to be fading quite a bit, so it is clear that Hulk will resume his natural color soon. There may be special roles for a green dog, but Hulk still has plenty of the other options as well. Given that he is a German shepherd, it’s possible that he could be used as a police dog to sniff out drugs and other possible criminal acts. It remains to be seen what role he will have in society. Regardless, the most important thing is that he gets adopted by a family that will show him love and support for his entire life. We all know that this is a very special puppy, so it makes sense to treat him with the utmost care.

It is important to recognize that just because an animal or pet looks differently, this does not mean that they should be overlooked. Too many people are willing to pass on a dog just because the way that it might look. Hulk is setting a new trend by showing that dogs with unique features are just as loving as well. He is proof that is it important to look for than just appearances when getting a pet. Compatibility, curiosity, and temperament are each important considerations when getting a new puppy. Hulk is great proof that things are not always what they seem. As his story spreads he will continue to bring joy to all of those around him. It’s not everyday that a little green pup comes out of nowhere. But this opportunity is a great reminder of all the great things that pet ownership can offer. In this sense our pets teach us about ourselves.

A famous fable that comes to mind is the Ugly Duckling. Like the ugly duckling, Hulk did not have the appearance that people expected. But as the pup grows into an adult, he will only become more appealing by traditional beauty standards. In this sense Hulk is his own ugly duckling. He was born different because of his color, but it turns out that he was able to utilize this difficulty into becoming a viral pup. It is always nice to see when animals overcome the odds, and there is no better story of that than Hulk. It will be interesting to see how this all plays out. It turns out that little Hulk could end up being the most famous dog of all. It would be a fitting story that would make everyone celebrate the green underdog!

It is unknown what the future holds for Hulk and his family. Given that he is the most unique of the litter, it is possible that the family just keeps him. There are plenty of pups from the litter and many of them will be put up for adoption. Hulk’s story is also important because it will assist the family in finding great homes for all the pups. Hulk is a healthy and happy dog, and everyone wishes him the best. Hulk’s story is a great reminder that appearances are only skin deep. An important lesson to keep in mind going forward.
