Dog Is Found with Hate Speech and Symbols Drawn on Her Fur

Leslie, the adorable dog, has been restored to her fresh and clean state following a distressing incident. The three-month-old pup was discovered outside a residence in Missouri, where her fur had been painfully shaved off, and her body was marred with offensive symbols like swastikas and profanity-laden phrases discouraging assistance for her.

Upon learning of the dog’s plight, local authorities intervened and rescued Leslie from her former home. The courageous pup was entrusted to the compassionate care of Rescue One, an animal rescue organization located in Springfield, Missouri.

As soon as Leslie arrived at the shelter, she was treated to a much-needed bath aimed at washing away all the negativity that had been imposed upon her. In a heartwarming Facebook post by Rescue One, they mentioned, “We gave her a thorough scrub-a-dub-dub to eliminate all traces of this hateful act.” In a subsequent update on social media, the rescue joyfully announced, “After numerous baths and the passage of time, every single swastika that had been drawn on this sweet girl is now completely eradicated!”

Following her remarkable recovery, including a clean bill of health and a fresh coat of fur, Leslie has found a temporary home with foster parent Perry Carpenter, who is wholeheartedly committed to securing a loving permanent family for the resilient pup.

Carpenter, in an interview with PEOPLE, expressed admiration for Leslie’s incredible attitude, despite the hardships she had endured. “She displays no behavioral issues and shows no fear towards men. On the very first day, she confidently rolled over, exposing her belly to my husband, a clear sign of comfort,” the dedicated foster mom shared.

Physically, Leslie is progressing well. Although she bears a few minor scrapes resulting from her previous owner’s careless shaving, she is otherwise in good health.

“She’s making wonderful progress. Leslie is an affectionate companion who delights in spending quiet moments outdoors, contentedly chewing on sticks. We have two dogs of our own, and she gets along splendidly with them. She truly is an exceptionally gentle and endearing puppy,” Carpenter added.

Under Carpenter’s compassionate care, Leslie’s journey towards a brighter future is unfolding beautifully. With her resilient spirit, loving nature, and the unwavering dedication of her foster parent, it is only a matter of time before Leslie finds her forever home, where she will be cherished and adored.

Carpenter firmly believes that Leslie will be an ideal addition to a caring family. However, she recommends that Leslie’s future home be a non-apartment setting, as Leslie tends to be a “bit of a barker” with her distinctive, unexpectedly deep bark that often surprises people.

Describing Leslie’s unique vocalizations, Carpenter affectionately remarks, “Her bark is this deep, amusing sound that makes you wonder, ‘Did that really come from that little, tiny thing?'”

Given Leslie’s compatibility with her current furry foster siblings, she would thrive in a household that includes other dogs. The presence of canine companions brings her joy and strengthens her social bonds.

“I just hope she just finds a happy forever home where she has friends and kids. And I will say I have a dog door, and she’s mastered it. So that would be key because I think that gives her independence,” Carpenter says. To apply to adopt Leslie and learn more about Rescue One, visit the organization’s website.
