Tug-of-War and Tummy Rubs Are all this Adoptable Pit Bull Wants

Leo, a 3 and a half-year-old pit-bull mix, is currently available for adoption at the Franklin County Dog Shelter and Adoption Center. He is seeking a loving home with ample opportunities for belly rubs.
Leo was previously adopted from the shelter in 2020, but was later returned as a stray in September. Since the shelter has been unable to contact his former owner, Behavior Coordinator Brandy Trott is eager to find Leo a new forever home.

Trott describes Leo as a “pretty sweet guy all around,” who can be energetic at times but also enjoys cuddling. She believes that Leo would make a great companion for someone looking for a “couch potato” type of dog, who enjoys a morning walk.
According to Behavior Coordinator Brandy Trott, Leo has been trained to perform a few basic tricks such as sitting, but he can be shy around new people. She recommends that potential adopters arrange a meeting with Leo in advance if they have other dogs in the household.
However, Leo has been observed to get along well with all types of individuals. Trott believes that Leo would be well-suited for a home with a mildly active lifestyle and a fenced-in yard for him to run around, but she also notes that Leo could adapt to apartment living.
Leo is not a particularly high-energy dog, but he does enjoy engaging in play.
Behavior Coordinator Brandy Trott has observed Leo engaging in games such as fetch and tug-of-war, suggesting that he would benefit from a home that can provide him with regular opportunities for play and exercise.
According to Behavior Coordinator Brandy Trott, Leo can be possessive of his toys, but he is willing to trade them for a treat. The most important thing for Leo is to be close to his person, he loves cuddling and making his love for belly rubs known.
“He just flops on his back and is ready for all the love,” Trott said. Leo is available for meet and greets at the Franklin County Dog Shelter, located at 4340 Tamarack Blvd. in Columbus, and the adoption fee is $18.
Additionally, the shelter has other dogs available for adoption as well:
