After suffering a heart attack and stroke six years ago, David Guindon of San Bernardino, California was left disabled and reliant on a service animal. He adopted a Husky named Zeus, who was professionally trained to help him with daily tasks. However, two years ago, Zeus wandered out of the house when a nurse left the door unlocked. David searched tirelessly for his beloved pet, but to no avail.
Recently, an outrageous story about Zeus went viral, but fortunately, it has a happy ending. David was reunited with Zeus after two long years of separation. Despite the odds, Zeus had survived and was found by a kind family who took care of him until they saw David’s flyers and recognized the dog.
David’s persistence in searching for his dog paid off, and Zeus is now back where he belongs – by David’s side. Although he had started training a new dog, Zero, to help him, David’s heart was never far from Zeus, and he never gave up hope of finding him.

A year and a half after Zeus went missing, David Guindon received an unexpected call from Home Again, the company that had registered Zeus’ microchip. The news that his dog had been found filled David with joy, but unfortunately, it did not mean that Zeus would be reunited with him.
Home Again informed David that a woman wanted to register Zeus’ microchip in her name and asked for his permission to do so. However, David refused and clarified that Zeus had not been surrendered, but lost, and he wanted his beloved pet back.
Despite the setback, David did not give up hope. He continued to search for Zeus, leaving flyers and using social media to spread the word. His persistence paid off when a kind family who had been taking care of Zeus recognized him from David’s flyers and contacted him. After two long years, David and Zeus were finally reunited, and their bond was as strong as ever.
The experience taught David the importance of microchipping pets and registering them with reputable companies like Home Again. It also highlighted the challenges that pet owners face when their pets go missing, and the importance of never giving up hope.
After failed attempts to retrieve Zeus from the woman who had taken him in, David turned to law enforcement for help. He filed a police report, but when they visited the woman’s home, she claimed that Zeus had run away.
David’s story quickly went viral after he spoke with KABC News in San Bernardino. The public was outraged at the woman’s heartless behavior and her refusal to return a disabled man’s beloved service dog. However, on the same day that David’s interview was shared with the public, he received a call from a police officer informing him that the woman had a change of heart and surrendered Zeus to local animal control.
Finally, after two long years, David and Zeus were reunited! They could return home together and be with David’s new service dog, Zero.
